Wendy joins our practice bringing her unique educational and professional expertise from the UK. Wendy achieved her Bachelor of Science degree through the Open University, UK. The degree is recognized by the British Psychological Society as a degree in Psychology. In 2005 she earned a Certificate in Counselling at York St John, College of the University of Leeds, UK. Wendy went on to earn her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of York, UK in 2007. Wendy is currently working on transitioning her credentials from the UK to the US. In doing so, Florida licensing board requires that she work for two years as a registered intern to satisfy their specific licensing requirements.
Wendy has an extensive background in successfully working with children, adults and families experiencing a wide range of difficulties including disabilities, emotional and behavioral concerns, neglect or abuse. Wendy has worked with couples to assist them with their marriage, relationships, parenting and living with substance abuse issues. For over five years Wendy worked as a facilitator on cognitive behavioral programs for adults to help change ineffective thoughts, feelings and behaviors and transition those into more effective life skills and coping mechanisms. Wendy has also worked as a family therapist; including experience with all levels of foster care and adoption
Wendy enjoys working with individuals, couples and families. She utilizes various techniques including cognitive behavioral, solutions focused, short term and supportive therapies to help clients develop insight into the core of their problems and develop their own specific realistic and workable skills and coping strategies to work towards becoming happier and more fulfilled.
Wendy moved to Florida in 2015 with her husband after raising two children, one of which is adopted, in the UK. In her spare time, she likes to do arts and crafts, walking, dancing, learning to play golf, exploring Florida's wildlife and taking trips back to the UK to visit family and friends.
